What added value did component measurement provide for our customers?
For older cooling water pumps, 3D design data is often unavailable. This was precisely the problem faced by one of our customers, who wanted to optimize his machine, including a new build.

After commissioning the contract measurement and the customized planning for the pump component’s measurement, we scheduled an on-site visit during the next production shutdown. Using optical 3D measurement technology combined with our many years of experience, our team was able to successfully carry out the component measurement and convert the data into 3D CAD files. Immediately upon receiving the measurement data, our customer began planning and optimizing their measures—and was able to gain valuable new insights thanks to the high quality of the data.

But that’s not all: Thanks to digitization, the customer will also be able to determine dimensions in the future without having to measure again. This safeguards ongoing operations and saves time.

What was measured?
The cooling water pump was 6 meters long and consists of several individual components. Due to its size, we conducted this 3D component measurement on-site at our client’s facility after scheduling an appointment. For the measurement setup, we required a radius of approximately 3 meters around the component.

How long did the component measurement take?

In this case, our team was on site for about two days. This was preceded by joint planning with the customer, during which we defined the optical measurement of components and areas that were to be scanned with a particularly high level of detail.

What optical measurement technology did we use?
When 3D scanning components that, as in this case, fall into the category of pumps, our engineers use one of our scan cameras to quickly and precisely capture three-dimensional measurement data.
