Flexible Solutions for Tool and Fixture Manufacturing
We create fast and flexible solutions for setting up, inspecting, and adjusting fixtures—such as those used in automotive and aerospace manufacturing: Using our contact measurement methods, fixtures ranging from approximately 1 m² to approximately 6 x 3 x 2 meters can be measured efficiently. For smaller injection molding tools and molds, we primarily use optical measurement methods that measure over large areas. A direct CAD connection enables a quick comparison of actual measurements against design specifications for free-form surfaces or geometric elements.

The metrological challenge: Extremely high accuracy of ~0.1 mm, difficult environmental conditions beneath the plant, and short downtime windows. For this demanding measurement task, we collaborated with a renowned supplier of continuous casting systems to develop, implement, and test an efficient measurement concept for quality assurance and optimization.
High-Precision Measurement for High-Tech Applications
The expertise and experience of the sigma3D team of experts qualify us for highly specialized measurement tasks—such as the alignment of particle accelerators. Depending on the type, these large-scale devices can accelerate charged particles through electric fields to speeds approaching the speed of light. We achieve the precise positioning of the magnets required for this—which can be up to several meters long and weigh several metric tons—with a tolerance of just 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm using laser trackers and precision levels.
