Last month was Career Exploration Day in North Rhine-Westphalia!
To mark the occasion, one of the sigma3D employees showed his son a part of his daily work. The idea was to digitize a traditional Portuguese rooster figurine (Galo do Barcelos), convert it into a CAD model, and then print it using a 3D printer.
To start, the father gave his son an introduction to working with the FaroArm and the connected 3D scanner. After that, the son scanned the figure almost entirely on his own. The result of the scan was a polygonal model. After scanning, they used a CAD program to design an additional base for the model to give the rooster a more stable footing. Finally, the CAD file was converted into a printable 3D file.
Father and son had an engaging, educational day and a lot of fun! And as a memento of that, the rooster is currently being printed.
We’re thrilled to have inspired a new generation with our work!
