A terrestrial laser scanner can capture large objects with high precision in a very short amount of time. It contains a very fast-rotating mirror and a motor that rotates it around its vertical axis. The rotating mirror serves as both the transmitter and receiver for the emitted laser beams. This allows measurements to be performed according to your specifications based on the rotation speed. Thanks to the laser scanner’s long range and high sampling rate, the point clouds generated for each measurement point can be produced quickly. The individual measurement points are aligned with one another using reference targets and combined into a single point cloud. The coordinates of the reference targets can be predetermined to deliver the measurement data in a higher-level coordinate system that meets your requirements.
Measurement Volume:
There are no limits to the measurement volume, thanks to the ability to link any two points together. Whether the system is used to capture small components, individual rooms, a yacht, or an entire industrial facility, it makes no difference to this measurement system. With a range of 0.6–120 m, a field of view of 360° horizontally and 305° vertically, we are able to scan any visible object in the space.
Measurement Accuracy:
High measurement accuracy can be achieved through the use of various measuring instruments and careful selection of the measurement point. The measurement system has a systematic distance error of ±2 mm and a measurement noise of <1 mm at a measurement distance of 25 m.
Software:
The raw point clouds are processed and verified using the FARO Scene software. The program can export and import various point cloud formats. This makes it easy to load the data into AutoCAD or Polyworks for further analysis. If a point cloud is to be created solely for documentation purposes, we can provide you with the project data via a web-based platform.
