Student Steffen Plaß has successfully defended his bachelor’s thesis, which was completed in collaboration with Mainz University of Applied Sciences and sigma3D.
Steffen had previously completed an internship at sigma3D and then decided to write his bachelor’s thesis in collaboration with the Department of Engineering at Mainz University of Applied Sciences and sigma3D. At sigma3D, he received active support from Arne von Rüsten.
Steffen developed and implemented a testing routine for laser scanners in the measurement room at sigma3D’s Mainz location. The measurement point network previously in use was expanded to include optical TLS targets. The goal was to determine the specified parameters for distance and line deviation, as well as the inclination angles, for the entire measurement volume that we frequently use. The reference data was measured using a laser tracker, and the testing routine was carried out using a Faro Focus S150 and a Leica RTC 360 from Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
Thanks to Steffen’s work, the employees at sigma3D can now test their laser scanners more effectively than before, and he can rest assured that the results of his work will continue to have practical value.
