Measurement of the reference data with a Faro laser scanner in the measurement room of the Mainz site

Successful defense of the bachelor thesis

Student Steffen Plaß has successfully defended his bachelor thesis, which was written in cooperation with the Mainz University of Applied Sciences and sigma3D.

Steffen has previously completed his internship at sigma3D and then decided to write his bachelor thesis together with the Department of Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Mainz and sigma3D. At sigma3D he was actively supported by Arne von Rüsten.

Steffen developed and set up a test routine for laser scanners in the measuring room of the Mainz sigma3D site. The previously used measuring point network was extended by optical TLS targets. The goal was to determine the specified parameters of distance and line deviation as well as inclinometers for the entire measurement volume that we frequently use. The reference data was measured with a laser tracker and the test routine was performed with a Faro Focus S150 and a Leica RTC 360 from Mainz University of Applied Sciences.

Thanks to Steffen's work, the staff at sigma3D can now test their laser scanners better than before, and for him, the certainty remains that the results of his work will continue to be of practical use.

The entire company congratulates Steffen on the great degree and wishes him continued success with his Master's!
